About Us

The University of Latvia Innovation and Acceleration Center operates as a one-stop agency whose mission is to promote innovation development and entrepreneurial growth by supporting UL students, researchers, and staff in the creation, development, and commercialization of new ideas and technologies.

Main functions of the UL Innovation and Acceleration Center in achieving its mission:

  • Supporting the establishment and development of businesses by offering mentoring, consultations, pre-incubation, incubation, and acceleration programs;

  • Organizing business competitions, hackathons, innovation forums, and networking events to encourage the development of new ideas and cooperation with the private and public sectors;

  • Attracting funding for innovation projects through national and international grant competitions, contract research, and cooperation projects;

  • Providing support for intellectual property protection and commercialization by helping researchers and entrepreneurs register and manage technologies and innovations created at the University of Latvia;

  • Offering consultations and informational support to UL academic and administrative staff by assisting with the preparation and management of project applications;

  • Continuously identifying cooperation opportunities and maintaining international contacts in order to expand the UL innovation ecosystem and promote the development of international projects.

The Center was established through the merger of the UL Business Incubator, the UL Knowledge and Technology Transfer Center, the UL Innovation Center LUMIC, and the UL Project Support Center.
