"In the Teacher’s Shoes" Programme

"In the Teacher’s Shoes" is a three-month thematic pre-incubation programme that promotes innovation and the development of educational technologies by inviting students to create and test modern learning solutions. Participants of the program will learn how to integrate pedagogy and technology into the learning process, using artificial intelligence tools, digital games, and interactive platforms.

The aim of the program is to foster students’ interest and engagement in the development of educational technologies and innovation, providing an opportunity to learn and practically apply modern approaches in the learning process. It is also an opportunity to understand the importance and challenges of the teaching profession, as well as to assess one’s own abilities in working with students.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop an innovative and interactive teaching method

  • Complete a 72-hour course “Methodology of the Learning Process” as a free elective (C part) study course, earning 3 ECTS credits

  • Participate in a 12-hour EdTech idea development sprint

  • Learn from others’ experience stories in working with students

  • Network and collaborate with other students

  • Develop methodological materials and a detailed lesson plan

  • Prepare for and deliver a real lesson in an educational institution

  • Expert support from the University of Latvia and schools

  • A grant of EUR 3,506 for idea development

  • A prize fund of EUR 5,000

  • Access to the University of Latvia OpenLab prototyping workshop

What will the format of the programme be?
The program will be delivered in a hybrid format - the course “Methodology of the Learning Process” will take place remotely, while the remaining sessions and meetings will be held in person.

Who can apply?
The programme is open to students, as well as pupils from vocational and general education institutions, or teams of students and/or pupils, where at least one member is enrolled in a bachelor’s, professional, master’s, doctoral, or residency study program at a higher education institution in Latvia or abroad.

The programme is organized by the University of Latvia Innovation and Acceleration Center in cooperation with the University of Latvia Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology, within the ERDF co-funded project No. 1.1.1.7/1/25/A/005 “Innovation Grants for Students of the University of Latvia.”
